Construction is currently underway for the Joe Louis Greenway: a transformative 29-mile recreational pathway designed to reconnect communities across Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck, and Dearborn. The pathway will include historical elements, and connect residents to culture and arts, all while bringing neighborhoods back together that have historically been separated by freeways.
Metro Consulting Associates (MCA) served a critical role in the project, providing construction inspection services for approximately 3 miles of the greenway within Highland Park. As the City of Highland Park Engineering Department, we are also monitoring demolition, performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and reviewing and approving permits.
Spanning multiple municipalities and jurisdictions, the project required extensive coordination among local governments, contractors, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders. MCA assisted with facilitating this collaboration through detailed site inspections, timely plan reviews, and ongoing communication among project partners.
In addition, MCA ensured the project met Highland Park’s standards and project requirements, including updating utility network revisions to ensure accuracy, and completing right of way (ROW) improvements. By serving as a key partner throughout design and construction, MCA is supporting communication and alignment toward the common goal of delivering a transformative community resource.
