Project Summary
For over a decade, Metro Consulting Associates (MCA) has been a “go-to” for Consumers Energy, a Michigan electric and natural gas utility company, providing professional land surveying services.
Since providing an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey for the company in 2011, MCA has dramatically expanded its portfolio with Consumers Energy, providing boundary, topographic, and electric line route surveys in addition to road monitoring, pipeline locate, pipeline depth, pipeline as-builts, gas route surveys, and traffic control plans.
Throughout the years, our key operations have been delivering essential mapping support for natural gas distribution expansion and upgrades. This requires our land surveying team, with decades of experience, to establish the right of way, locate sanitary, storm, and water utilities and their connectivity, and identify planimetric features—or everything you see without elevation, such as curbs, trees, signs, etc.
By gathering and analyzing this information, Consumers Energy can identify outdated mains and prepare future main installations. Over the past few years, most of MCA’s mapping support work has involved renewing old gas mains as part of government-mandated infrastructure maintenance. Between preventing gas leaks, improving reliability, and increasing cost efficiency, updating old mains is a big deal for the public good, and our team has been proud to help keep our communities safe.
