Metro Consulting Associates Awarded Funding to Coordinate Drinking Water Conservation Program in Highland Park

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Office of the Clean Water Public Advocate launched a new initiative to reduce water waste in communities throughout Michigan.

Called the Water Leak Pilot, the new program highlights the benefits of reducing water waste for consumers, water suppliers, and the overall community. Approximately 100 Benton Harbor residents and 100 Highland Park residents will be the first in the state to benefit from the new initiative and receive free in-home plumbing repairs.

Metro Consulting Associates was awarded grant funding to coordinate the Water Leak Pilot in Highland Park.

“Assisting the community with plumbing repairs and providing educational material on the water system will help improve their quality of life and make water more affordable. The Water Leak Pilot has the potential to transform the City of Highland Park and other Michigan communities,” stated Municipal Engineering Manager Jarion Bradley, PE.

This pilot program is part of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s MI Clean Water, a $500 million comprehensive water infrastructure investment in Michigan’s water systems from source to tap.
