MCA surveyors have been involved and attended the annual MSPS Conference for years. This year was no exception. The MSPS Annual Conference which was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was attended by CEO Jeff Evans, PS, Brad Oliver, PS, Trevor McMann, PS and Survey Crew Chiefs Adam LaLonde and Cam Lear. MCA was honored to have the opportunity to award two $1500 scholarships to top academic survey students, Aryn Cowley and Karl Szyszkoski, at this year’s conference. In addition to being part of the scholarship, MCA was picked as the winner of the MSPS Poster Concept Contest. The theme was National Surveyors Week, in which MCA conveyed the long heritage of surveyors throughout American History. While surveyors of the past helped MCA win the contest, it was James Render, MCA’s GIS Analyst, that illustrated to over 100¬†professional surveyors how GIS Applications are the wave of the future. “GIS: Beyond Mapping” showed how field and office staff can benefit from real time, accurate parcel data. MCA used the conference to truly showcase our strengths in the industry. 2016 was a banner year for Metro Consulting Associates (MCA) and the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) and we are looking forward to what opportunities 2017 will bring.
